Take me directly to the School Science Project ColdFusion Training Site
The School Science Project's web site is driven by
ColdFusion. In this case, ColdFusion is not an atomic reaction, but a special software package running on our web server that allows us to build Database Driven Web Sites.
Behind almost every site on this server is a Microsoft Access Database. This database can contain any information we need and can be used for many applications.
One of the benefits that ColdFusion gives us is the capability to design a web site whose content can be managed by someone who knows nothing about web design. All the content manager has to do is log into the web site, and make changes to the content through forms on the web page.
Examples Uses of ColdFusion
- Assessment web sites that allow teachers or districts to create their own online assessments, to retain a repository of test questions, and to have reports generated online for these assessments.
- Dynamic school web sites that contain information on staff, teachers, courses, homework assignments, news and events.
- Computer hardware and software inventory that can automatically generate reports for district wide administrators.
- A technology helpdesk with frequently asked questions and a method by which the user can create their own work order online.
- Course curricula that can be shared with anyone
- A employer-school database that can match student skills up with employer needs
- A website for each school where teachers can post and discuss student work
As part of our work, we trained many teachers to use Cold Fusion and we have an entire site devoted to this training.
