Associate Director of Curriculum of Educational TechnologyRice University is a small private university in Houston Texas with strengths in science and engineering and many active K12 outreach programs including the Center for Education's School Science and Technology (SST) program. The mission of SST is to create a science and technology learning community for teachers in the Houston area by providing long-term, sustained teacher professional development in science content, pedagogy, curricular resources, and technology. We seek a candidate with an advanced degree in science or science education and extensive experience in elementary science curriculum development to serve as the Associate Director of Curriculum. This person will design, create, develop and test elementary science curricula in both paper and electronic forms. This curricula to be aligned with Earth/Space, Life, Physical and Chemistry Texas state science standards (TEKS) and best practices in instruction as evidenced by the science education literature. Requires: Advanced degree in science or education or equivalent experience, four or more years of elementary classroom teaching experience including science, experience in science teacher professional development or related activities, extensive use of educational technology, computers, and software applications. Preferred: Ph.D. in science or science education; high level of technological proficiency including programming skills, high level ability to use Flash, Macromedia Authorware, or equivalent design software suitable for creating online curricular materials; fluency in Spanish.
