This site is dedicated to training educators in the Houston, Texas area on the many aspects of web site design integrating ColdFusion database connectivity.
How do I make my own database enabled site?
- Learn HTML - Take this turorial on HTML

- Take this tutorial on forms
Forms are a very important part of making a web page talk to a database. Without forms, you can't pass information from the user to the database.
- Apply for an account
To utilize ColdFusion (the part that makes your web page talk to a database), you need to apply for an account on this server.
- Create a Simple Database and FTP it to this server
Once you have learned HTML, and you have an account set up on our server, you need to layout your database with Microsoft Access and upload it to the server using your FTP program.
- Set your database up as a datasource
Send me and email (eheard@rice.edu) and I'll set up your database as a datasource.
- Write any necessary ColdFusion code
While taking the class you will learn how to write the code necessry to pull information from your database, and post information to your database. You can learn more about the ColdFusion Markup Language here.
