Our Science
Our science is part of our entire
school integrated curriculum. We have created and are continuing
to created and refine a unique curriculum. We offer hands-on science, where
students learn from the materials and processes of the natural
world through direct observation and experimentation. Our science
teachers use the constructivist approach to learning about science. Our curriculum follows the National Science Standards, the Texas State TEKS and our district benchmarks. Visit this site. Visit the TEKS site.
Technology is used as a tool to enhance the learning environment. We teach technology skills within the overall information problem-solving process skills in context.
Our Program Highlights:
- Our science classes are 90 minutes
daily
- We have trained and certified
Science teachers in our labs
- We have a collegic and collaborative
relationship with the Rice University School Science Project.
- We have a full time Rice University
Science Specialist on campus
- Hi-tech Science labs equipped
to meet the needs of the 21st century student.
- We use the Cambridge Physics
Educational Program and integrate it into our math and science
curriculum.
- Every student uses the applied
science and technology lab called, the "Smart Lab"
from the Creative Learning System.
- Computers are used as tools
for exploration. Students use integrated technologies, CBL and MBL
equipment.
- Internet and intranet is used for data acquisition
and research is stressed.
